Outdoor Recreation

At Stone Mountain State Park you can picnic, hike one of the trails, view and photograph waterfalls and wildlife, fish in 17 miles of trout streams, go bouldering or climbing, camp in the campgrounds, or backpack to remote camping.

Nearby Doughton Park (7,000 acres) offers hiking, backpack camping, and trout fishing. Doughton Park can be accessed from the Blue Ridge Parkway or from Longbottom Road at the foot of the blue ridge escarpment.

There are miles of excellent trout streams nearby. Catch stocked trout in any of the “Hatchery Supported” streams, try your luck in the “Delayed Harvest” waters, or attempt to catch a wild “brookie.” Tri-State Angler Guide Service provides trout fishing guide service and instruction.
